New Zealand made Mumcho - lightweight, versatile wraps designed
to enhance style, comfort and privacy for mother and baby while
breastfeeding.
Ute Lorch is the founder and designer of MumCho, and a mother of
three. She came up with the Mumcho concept in 2006 after travelling
to Europe with her two-month old daughter Kara. Inspired by
the simplicity of the traditional poncho, the result was just the
garment Ute had been looking for and the first Mumcho design was
born: "It was great. I was more relaxed, and Kara really enjoyed
the intimacy of being covered yet she could still see through it,"
notes Ute.
Mumcho has been available in selected shops throughout New
Zealand since 2008.
Each of the Mumcho designs are versatile and offer five or more
looks in one. The one-size-fits-all designs fold down to the size
of a pouch - perfect for the handbag, the beach, or while
travelling.
Every season Ute introduces a new collection of Mumchos featuring
a range of beautiful fabrics including colourful printed silk and
chiffon, soft New Zealand merino wool and eco-friendly organic
bamboo (please note that the organic design will be available from
Breastmates mid March).
Ute carefully selects the fabrics to ensure they are a timeless
fashion accessory to be worn beyond the nursing period: the merino
wool design is a smart winter wrap-style look; the summer Mumchos
are a chic beach cover-up; and the organic eco-friendly bamboo
Mumcho is a stylish, urban outfit.
