Medela Calma Teat plus Bottle (includes teat, cap, cover, 1x150mL Bottle)
Medela's Calma teat is able to offer a solution which allows your baby to switch from breast to bottle and back again.
Calma was developed based on the results of studies with the University of Western Australia. That's why Calma is the unique teat for babies who are being breastfed with breastmilk, as it allows them to suck, swallow and breathe, as learned on the breast - for a flowrate that suits them.
Whether you breastfeed or use Calma, the baby has to create a vacuum for breastmilk to flow. As soon as the baby pauses, the flow is stopped. This doesn't happen with conventional teats.
Your baby has a unique sucking pattern, with pauses to swallow and breathe. By using Calma, your baby is able to feed and pause naturally according to their personal rhythm. This helps to slow down the feed and results in a calm and relaxed baby during and after the feed.
Similar as with breastfeeding, your baby can
- drink, pause and breathe in their natural rhythm,
- create their individual vacuum through a combination of tongue and jaw movements,
- retain their natural way of sucking, which supports an easy transition from breastfeeding to feeding breastmilk with Calma and back to the breast.
- PLUS the teat doesn't drip!
One size teat is suitable for your entire duration of feeding. The flow, shape and length of Calma are designed to suit your baby's needs as your baby grows. Calma will always meet your baby's needs during the lactation period.
Make sure you view the assembly instructions. Very easy to do - but different from normal teats
This teat fits any narrow neck bottle, such as Medela Bottles
One 150mL size medela bottle is included with this teat.

- Fantastic for BREAST/BOTTLE feeding
Loving this teat. Have used it every night in conjunction with all day breastfeeding and never had a problem. Baby has just developed reflux and have noticed a huge difference between this teat and others in helping her discomfort. Because they have to "work" for the milk - much like breastfeeding it promotes them to keeping the same feeding technique and not become lazy. Would recommend to everyone.
- a million times easier
It took a little getting use to as bubs had only ever been breastfed, so at 5 months of age it was something new and he wasn't to sure to start off with. As the milk does not leak or come out when squeezed it was abit tricky to get some milk out for him to taste and realise what it was. Once he did get a taste for it he was off and loved it.. He was fine after and didn't have any trouble with wind. Sticking to the sucking motion he was use to at the breast made it a million times easier and he has no problems drinking at both the breast and bottle and made it a stress free experience! Its well worth trying if you are having trouble with bubs going from breast to bottle. Also i thought with the extra parts it might be a little tricky but after watching you instructions once had no problems at all! I would highly recommend it over all was a positive experience :)
- best bottle ever.....
I have one of these bottles after a midwife recommended it. I was having a lot of issues breastfeeding after my daughter needed top up feeds via a bottle. It is fantastic and I would never use a regular bottle again.
