I am Frances McInnes, the founder and manager of Breastmates.
Breastmates was created in 2004 when I developed some reusable Breast Pads to absorb breastfeeding leaks, something I needed after I had my first baby.
As a mum, I soon realised that there were no other stores that focused on breastfeeding in New Zealand. Some of the advice I received from baby stores was shocking, and there were no shops that had breastfeeding support.
Those factors lead to the development of the Breastmates store concept - and after lots of research, product use, and training (and two babies to practise on) we're here today with a whole range of products especially for when you enter motherhood.
In addition to our store, our website now includes a comprehensive section with advice and shared experiences. This is continually growing based on the numerous emails and common questions that we have get asked from other mothers.
You need someone to answer your questions honestly, and that's what we can do. You are not alone when you start Motherhood!!
Whether you are boob or bottle feeding, Breastmates has become known for honest non-judgemental advice.
